The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is a test performed in the diagnosis of diabetes. In pregnant women, a 3-point test is performed, i.e., fasting, after 60 and after 120 minutes, after drinking a solution containing 75g of glucose.

Previously diagnosed diabetes is a contraindication to the test. If there is a positive history of hyperglycemia (increased thirst, polyuria, unintentional weight loss), a strip test of capillary blood glucose with a glucometer should first be performed before administering 75g of glucose to confirm symptoms of hyperglycemia.
