Flu test

Flu virus influenza is transmitted by the droplet route, meaning that you can contract it by being around sick people who cough, sneeze or talk.

The sample for the test is a swab from the throat or nose, taken by a nurse at the selected location. The collection procedure takes less than 5 minutes, and the test result is ready for collection within 1 business day. The result can be received online.

Flu symptoms

The influenza virus can cause symptoms such as:

• fever (in some cases exceeding 39°C)
• chills
• dry, agonizing cough
• headache, muscle pain, and sore throat
• secretions from the nose
• pain in the chest
• general weakness

The rapid tests are used for initial confirmation of influenza A and B virus infection.

The test is a qualitative immunochromatographic test, in some cases there is a chance that the result obtained may be a false positive or negative.

Negative results do not fully rule out influenza A or B viral infection and should be confirmed by molecular testing or cell culture studies.
