Histoplasmosis
Histoplasmosis - a fungal infection caused by Histoplasma capsulatum
causing pulmonary lesions. Histoplasmosis occurs worldwide,
endemic regions include the Ohio and Mississippi River valleys, southern
Pennsylvania and Texas in the United States. Infection occurs
by inhaling spores that are found in soil or
contaminated. The disease occurs in acute, disseminated or
chronic. The test involves looking for antibodies in the serum
against Histoplasma capsulatum.
