Onconeuronal antibodies anti-Hu (IB)

Onconeuronal antibodies are antibodies that attack and destroy the nervous system. Determinations of onconeuronal antibodies allow, with an appropriate clinical picture, to make a confident diagnosis of neurological paraneoplastic syndrome and taking diagnostic measures aimed at determining the localization of the primary tumor and implementation of specific treatment. Each of the antibodies is specific to a particular paraneoplastic syndrome and cancer. Anti-Hu antibodies are characteristic of such neurological syndromes as encephalomyelitis encephalomyelitis, limbic encephalitis, cerebellar degeneration and sensory neuropathy.
