Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG antibodies

Test the level of IgG antibodies against Mycoplasma pneumoniae in the blood. The bacterium mycoplasma pneumoniae causes atopic pneumonia (mycoplasmal pneumonia) and other respiratory diseases.

Test performed in the differential diagnosis of respiratory tract infections. The M. pneumoniae-specific IgG antibody test should be performed together with the determination of IgM levels, since a positive test result may be the result of past contact with M.pneumoniae bacteria.

A definitive diagnosis of M.pneumoniae infection can be made after two determinations of IgG antibodies 2-4 weeks apart.
