What does the test involve?
This is a non-invasive DNA analysis of 6 genes related to strength, endurance, speed, and recovery. You collect the sample yourself with a cheek swab (at home) and send it to the laboratory, or you can have blood drawn at one of the selected Medicover Medical Centers. You will receive a clear report with practical interpretation and training recommendations.

What will you learn from the test?
We analyze 6 genes whose variants determine your athletic predispositions:
- muscle structure and speed – whether you are more suited for strength or endurance sports, e.g. sprint vs. long-distance running
- cardiorespiratory capacity – how effectively your body uses oxygen during exercise
- endurance – predisposition to long-distance sports and high-intensity effort
- hemoglobin management – a factor influencing endurance and maximum oxygen uptake (VO₂max)
- blood pressure and inflammation regulation – important under intense load
- explosiveness and muscle power – natural predisposition to speed and agility
How will this information help you in training?
After the test you will know, among other things:
- whether your genes favor endurance (marathon, cycling, triathlon) or strength (sprint, strength sports, crossfit),
- which types of training and sports disciplines are most effective for you,
- how to consciously develop your natural strengths.
Receiving the results
You will receive the results within 20 business days in the form of a clear online report with specific training recommendations. This is not raw data—it’s actionable guidance you can immediately apply at the gym, track, or field. Additionally, the package includes a teleconsultation with a sports medicine physician, with whom you can further discuss your results.
Genetic testing – important to remember
The test indicates predispositions, but it does not definitively determine the type of activity for you. The result will help you assess your body’s capabilities and health risks, but lifestyle decisions should also take into account your lifestyle, age, athletic experience, and current health condition.
GENActive tests are performed using modern molecular biology techniques. Most often we use Sanger sequencing, considered the “gold standard” in identifying single nucleotide changes in DNA. Depending on the gene studied, we also use PCR and real-time PCR techniques, which allow for DNA fragment amplification and detailed analysis, as well as determining the number of copies of the studied gene.
The interpretation of results is based on scientific data available for the Caucasian population, and where unavailable—on data for the global population.
