Clinical significance

Legionella pneumophila - a bacterium that causes respiratory diseases Legionellosis. There is a severe form of infection - Legionistów disease and a mild form - Pontiac fever. Legionnairesów disease is an inflammation of the lungs, often with an acute course, with additional symptoms from the gastrointestinal, nervous and respiratory systems. Pontiac fever is a disease that manifests with flu-like symptoms, and sometimes there may also be gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The test involves detecting antibodies in the IgG class. IgG-grade antibodies are detected in the póe phase of the disease, 6-9 weeks after infection.
