P/RSV IgG antibodies
The determination of antibodies to syncytial epithelial virus
Respiratory epithelial virus (RSV) is used in the diagnosis of infections with this
virus. This virus is the main pathogen causing infections of the
of the lower respiratory tract in infants and children under 5 years of age,the elderly
elderly and immunocompromised.
What method is used in performing this test ?
Antibodies are determined in peripheral blood serum by an
immunochemical method based on antigen-antibody reaction.
When should the test be performed?
IgG antibodies reach their highest concentrations within 20-30 days
after infection and decline after about a year.
