Clinical significance

The determination of IgG antibodies against antigens of the armed tapeworm (Taenia solium) is performed in the diagnosis of anthrax. The armed tapeworm is a parasite of the gastrointestinal tract - infection with eggs is called tapeworm. In the stomach, oncospheres hatch from the eggs, whichóre penetrating the intestinal mucosa and are transported with the blood to the rós organs. There, they settle and transform into anthraxes, or larvae. This form of the disease is anthrax. It is very dangerous because the larvae can attack the eyes or nervous system. The incubation period of the larvae can last up to several years. IgG antibodies against the antigens of the armed tapeworm are detected as early as 3 weeks after infection. The greatest diagnostic value is to find specific antibodies in the mógastrospinal fluid.
