Tramal is a trade name. The chemical is called
Tramadol and it should be the one in the name of the study because there are various
other preparations with tramadol on the market. Tramal (tramadol hydrochloride
tramadol) is a powerful opioid analgesic. It has little
addictive potential, but when used long-term it can lead to
addiction and the development of tolerance, as well as the onset of
withdrawal reactions. When used in large doses, it can cause
the occurrence of seizures. Determination of the serum concentration of tramal is
helpful in the diagnosis of overdose and in monitoring the development of
tolerance to the drug.
