Benzodiazepine

Benzodiazepines are the most commonly used sedative-sedative drugs sleep.
They are relatively safe and have a broad therapeutic index. They have high addictive potential, with chronic use developing a tolerance develops.
Benzodiazepines are well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, penetrate the blood-brain barrier. They undergo metabolism in the liver and are excreted in the urine. In poisoning, there is a depression of the central nervous system, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Poisoning Benzodiazepines are treated symptomatically.
The results of determinations of this group of drugs are mainly used to confirm the the cause of the poisoning.
Quantitative determination of barbiturates is used to determine the the level of the drug in the blood.
